New Year! New You!

Happy New Year! Thoughts of resolutions have no doubt crossed your mind over the past weeks with the opportunity of a new year offering a new start. Giving up this or stopping that are usually the themes of our new year’s promises when it comes to healthy living. This year why not change things up with our suggestions of things you can add to your life for a healthier lifestyle! Throughout January we will be sharing our new year’s tips, beginning with how to get your morning off to the best start!

Start with the morning

To get the New Year off to a great start there’s no better place to begin than the first meal of the day, breakfast! Did you know that fruit is best eaten on an empty stomach? Fruits are full of sugar, natural sugars but sugars no less, when fruit is eaten on an empty stomach the digestive system can break down the sugars quickly and allows us to get the full nutritional benefits. Some of the benefits we get from fruits are their fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants so it’s best we don’t miss out on getting the full advantage of their goodness!

Now that we can agree fruit is a great way to start off the day we would like to recommend one fruit in particular and that is the banana. So what’s so great about this yellow fruit? Bananas are a great source of energy so a great way to start the day, with just two bananas providing enough energy for a 90 minute workout! But their benefits don’t stop there, bananas are also good for blood pressure, depression, heartburn, ulcers and even hangovers!

With a few simple additions you can have the New Year off to a healthier start so make sure you check back for our next blog with some more tips!
