How To Prepare The Perfect Mother’s Day Roast

Mothering Sunday is the perfect excuse to have a roast, not to mention treat your Mum on her special day! We’re giving you our top roast tips so that you can let Mum have the day off this Sunday whilst you prepare the dinner with ease for your perfect dinner party.

This first thing you can do to make things a bit easier for you this Sunday is some pre prep such as peeling the potatoes and chopping the veg. You can do this the day before and then leave the potatoes in water over night and pop the chopped veg in containers in the fridge.

When it comes to roasting your veg make the most of them by adding garlic and rosemary to really compliment their flavours. If you need some inspiration when it comes to your veg choice then check what’s in season to ensure you’re getting the best taste from your veggies.

Give the star of the show the attention it needs, that’s the meat of the roast! Don’t put your meat straight into the oven from the fridge but instead bring it to room temperature before you begin to cook it, this will help the meat cooking evenly.

Take your flavours to the next level! When roasting your meat lay vegetables in the tray underneath it such as onion and garlic, this will not only enhance the meat’s flavour but also that of the gravy. Once cooked, cover in tin foil and leave to rest for at least 10 minutes, don’t start slicing straight away!

So there’s our top tips for a Sunday roast! If we’ve inspired you to be more creative in the kitchen then why not organise a cooking lesson with one of our chefs? Or if you would like to give Mum an extra special treat why not arrange for one of our chefs to prepare the roast for you? We also offer vouchers for dinner parties and cooking lessons which make the perfect Mother’s Day present!
