05 Nov Bonfire Treats
Another week, another celebration and this time it’s Bonfire Night! Of course no Bonfire Night is complete without a delicious toffee apple so why not try to make your own this year with our simple recipe.
What you’ll need;
8 apples
400 grams golden caster sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
4 tablespoon golden syrup
What you’ll need to do;
- Put the apples in a bowl and pour over boiling water until it covers them. After a few minutes, remove the apples, dry them and remove their stalks. You will now need a skewer to push through the stalk of each apple so they can easily be held. Now place the apples on a sheet of baking paper.
- Add the caster sugar to a pan with 100 mililitres of water and cook over a medium heat for around 5 minutes or until you can see the sugar has dissolved. Next stir in the vinegar and syrup and the mixture will need to boil to 150C, you can use a sugar thermometer to monitor this.
- Once the toffee is ready, dip the apples into the mix and ensure they are well covered then return them to the baking paper to leave to harden. Your apples are now ready but make sure you leave them to cool before taking your first bite!
